What Does Love Mean?

You take on a whole new task and responsibility. A completely new
stage of your life is starting for you. Love means losing yourself in life
towards your partner and your family in many, many small things,
deeds and words of love so that the other person feels at ease – that he
gladly comes home – that he can relax after an exhausting day. That
does not mean that you yourself are not allowed to have any rights and
look after yourself, but not in a selfish manner.

Take time to sit down and ask if everything went off well during the day
and at work. That should be mutual. Take time to dish up something
that tastes good; think less about what I like, but rather what my partner
likes to eat.

Love also means not serving up worries, children’s quarrels as well as
gossip for dessert, but rather seeing to warmth and a good atmosphere
excluding any tension. This will have a positive effect on the whole
family. If there are tensions, you have to be sensible with words and be
able to wait, maybe till the following day. It can be that the storm has
died down by then without many words. A sensible silence contributes a
lot to peace.

Love also means respecting and trying to find the feelings of the other
person because he is a man – she is a woman. Each feels differently,
mentally and physically.

Small attentions give joy. The value is not important here. The kind,
affectionate gesture is what matters. Never reject such with ingratitude,
indifference – by doing so you spoil the other person’s joy of giving. A
loving, friendly word or a hearty parting goodbye in the morning lights
up the entire day.

The wife and mother should not forget to dress up when the husband
comes home. He will surely appreciate it. Should he not notice, you can
still ask him in jest, for example: „Maybe my new lipstick is too in-
trusive? – Do you like my new dress? – Have a smell, what do you think
of my new perfume?“
